Kindergarten News
February 14-21
The Kindergarten Assessment is complete and it is attached to this newsletter. Please take a minute to go over it with your child. The blue highlighted areas are areas where your child needs additional help! Please note that the WRITING area of the assessment was a difficult part of the assessment. If your child wrote the letter (or number) backwards (reversal) it was marked wrong. Your child also had to write BOTH capital and lower case to get it correct! WOW!! That’s a lot!!!

HOMEWORK
Please remember the SIGHT WORDS list that was sent home!! Words to learn are: the, a to, it, of, and, in, is, I, and you. Some notes are coming back signed that your child is ready to pass off the List #1 and the child is not ready to pass off the list, I will be sending them home again for you to practice more. Some of you are already on list 3 and 4 WOW!! WAY TO GO!! If you are starting on a new list PLEASE DON”T FORGET THE LISTS BEFORE! We need to be able to know ALL of the words!! Each child will need to be able to read at least 25 sight words by the end of the year! Your child’s success will depend on some extra help from home!!!
Remember that learning important personal information is so important in Kindergarten: Birthday, Phone Number and Address! Your child needs to be able to recite this information to me to pass it off!! If I send the homework back with red markings your child was unable to pass it off to me and needs more practice at home!!
